Guests

Playing takes no account and no email address. Your browser keeps a random id and the display name you type in its local storage, which is what lets a reload put you back in the room you were in. That name, and the answers you give, go to the server so the room can score the round and show the standings. Apart from the error reports described under “Where it runs” below, nothing else about you is collected.

Hosts

A host account is an email address and a password. The email and a session token are kept in the browser's local storage until you sign out.

What the server keeps

• Rooms: the join code, who hosts it, and the round settings.
• Finished rounds: the settings they were played with, when they started and ended, and the final standings — display names and scores.
• A round in progress lives in memory only. Who is connected, and who answered what, is gone once it ends.

What is not here

No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party scripts in the page. Nothing is sold or handed to anyone for marketing.

Where it runs

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages and the server runs on Fly.io in Sydney, where the database sits. When the server or the page in your browser hits an error, it can send a technical report to Sentry, an error-tracking service, saying what failed, so the fault can be found and fixed. A report from the browser includes your browser and version, the page address, and a recording of the page from shortly before the error onwards, with all text and typing masked and images blocked. Sentry also times a small sample of page loads and requests.
